Rome, Italy.  The NATO M&S COE, a hub for modelling and simulation within NATO, presented its organization and capabilities to the NATO Training Group – Task Group on Individual Training and Education Developments (NTG TG IT&ED). On 14 February, the Centre met with 35 members of the NATO Training Group and highlighted the current and future projects in support of the NATO Alliance. Some of the projects shown included the Centre’s Wargame Interactive Scenario Digital Overlay Model (WISDOM) and our work on the Electro-Magnetic Spectrum Operations layer for simulations. The visit also showcased the Centre’s facilities and our ability to provide both on site and distributed support.

Mr Paul Thurkettle, the programme manager of NATO’s eLearning program, expressed the gratitude of the NATO Training Group for the informative visit and their appreciation of the work being done by the Centre to support the Alliance. The aim of the NTG is “to enhance professionalism, interoperability and standardization among Alliance and partner forces through improved co-ordination of Education, Training, Exercise and Evaluation, with particular emphasis on supporting operations” (MC 238/5).

Col. Francesco PACILLO, the NATO M&S COE Director, welcomed the visitors and stated, “Your visit represents evidence of an active interest of individual training in the modelling and simulation community. Together our efforts can increase the effectiveness of the Alliance through understanding, training, and collaboration.”
