Lt. Gen. Jeffrey LOFGREN, Deputy Chief of Staff for Capability Development in ACT, Visits NATO M&S COE

On November 9th 2017, Lt. Gen. Jeffrey LOFGREN, the Deputy Chief of Staff for Capability Development, Headquarters Allied Command Transformation, Norfolk, honored the NATO Modelling & Simulation Centre of Excellence (M&S COE) in Rome with an official visit.

Lt. Gen. Lofgren was welcomed by Major General (IT Army) Angelo PALMIERI, MOD Joint Staff – Division Head of C4I Transformation, Cpt. (IT Navy) Vincenzo MILANO, the NATO M&S COE Director, and by the NATO M&S COE staff.

The NATO M&S COE Director led the presentation about the Centre with a special focus on current and future M&S COE activities. Lt. Gen. Lofgren was briefed on the Centre’s work towards providing cloud access to M&S; modeling urban environments; bringing together key NATO M&S organizations and events; M&S education and Fora for NATO.

Lt. Gen. Lofgren expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the M&S COE’s activities in support of the Alliance, with the belief that the Centre “is making the difference.” He also emphasized the great value modelling and simulation provides in training allowing repetition of individual and collective tasks in a way that can’t be done with live training.

Lt. Gen. Lofgren acts as the Allied Command Transformation’s Director for NATO capability development providing guidance, direction and coordination to a directorate consisting of 26 branches that are functionally grouped to focus on NATO Defence Planning, Capability Engineering and Innovation, Command and Control, Deployability and Sustainability capabilities.
