NATO M&S Support to Experimentation & Wargaming Course

Starts: 19 November 2026 - Ends: 27 November 2026

Published: 1 September 2026

The NATO Modelling & Simulation Centre of Excellence is organizing the 1st edition of the NATO M&S Support to Experimentation & Wargaming Course from November 19 to November 27, 2026.

This intensive five-day training module is designed to equip NATO personnel, defense analysts, and simulation professionals with the skills required to design, execute, and analyze advanced simulation-based experiments and wargaming activities. Combining operational relevance with hands-on methodology, the training module offers a practical and structured approach to the integration of Modeling & Simulation (M&S) within NATO’s experimentation and decision-making frameworks.

The course is aligned with NATO experimentation doctrine (e.g., ACT CD&E Handbook, AMSP series, NATO WG Handbook), ensuring that participants leave with both theoretical foundations and practical tools to contribute effectively to military experimentation and strategic decision-making. In addition to the theoretical and methodological components, the course will provide access to simulators and wargaming platforms, allowing participants to directly interact with advanced M&S solutions used in real-world defense scenarios. These tools will be presented, demonstrated, and critically analyzed during the training module, giving attendees the opportunity to explore different modeling architectures, simulation engines, and wargaming approaches across strategic and tactical domains.

The course will be conducted in person in Rome.

The final confirmation of course execution will be given before beginning of the course by e-mail to registered participants. We recommend you do not arrange any non-refundable travel or accommodations before receiving the confirmation email.
