21st Meeting of the NATO M&S COE Steering Committee

Rome – The NATO M&S COE hosted the 21st Steering Committee meeting from 7-8 November 2023 in the “Adriano De Cicco” barracks in Cecchignola, Rome.

The meeting brought together the national representatives from the NATO M&S COE’s Sponsoring Nations – Italy, the Czech Republic, Germany, and the United States.

The meeting was an opportunity for the NATO M&S COE to review the progress the Centre is making on research and projects in 2023 and to discuss different aspects of the operation of the Centre.  The Centre will continue into the next phase with many of our conceptual projects and work to build upon what our experts have learned.  The Centre will advance our work on Electro-Magnetic Operations layer for M&S, the CBRN layer for M&S and continue work on AI/ML.  Additionally, the Centre has added new personnel with a background in Cyber operations.  This will allow the Centre to explore Cyber Wargaming and other applications of cyber for M&S.  The Centre remains committed to education & training in M&S with our three NATO approved courses and one NATO listed ADL course.  The Centre now offers the highly rated CAX Specialist Course twice per year and has added two pilot courses to the portfolio, a JTLS-GO Foundation course and a JTLS-GO Practitioner course.

The NATO M&S Centre of Excellence is focused on NATO and providing support through conceptual research, capability development and M&S education & training.  The Steering Committee provides the direction and guidance to ensure the Centre is providing the best support with its available resources.
